General information & location

Where is Hotel Gartnerkofel located?

Hotel Gartnerkofel is located directly at Nassfeld in Carinthia, at 1,500 m above sea level. In summer, you are right in the middle of the mountain world and close to many hiking trails and mountain lifts. In winter, you can start skiing directly from the hotel.

Who is a holiday at Hotel Gartnerkofel suitable for?

A holiday at Hotel Gartnerkofel is especially suitable for families, active guests, couples and winter holidaymakers. Families can look forward to childcare, indoor and outdoor offers and many adventures, while couples and adults enjoy the wellness areas, cuisine and mountain location.

How high is the hotel located?

The hotel is located at 1,500 m above sea level. This means you can enjoy clear mountain air, impressive panoramic views and, in winter, an especially convenient starting point for your ski holiday.

What is the weather like?

As our hotel is located very close to Italy, the weather can often change within just a few hours. To check the latest weather forecast, we recommend the Bergfex website/app.


Booking, prices & stay

What is included in the stay?

Included are the All Inclusive pampering board, non-alcoholic drinks around the clock, coffee and tea specialities, childcare from the age of 3, many indoor and outdoor activities, use of the wellness and bathing areas as well as further seasonal services such as the Nassfeld +CARD holiday in summer. You can find all included services here in detail.

Can I also book breakfast only or half board?

No, it is not possible to book half board or breakfast only. Your stay is offered with the Gartnerkofel All Inclusive services.

Do I have to pay a deposit?

Yes, for a confirmed booking, a deposit of 30% of the total travel price is due within 2 weeks. The remaining amount can be paid on site in cash or by card (VISA/MasterCard, American Express, EC card).

Which payment methods are accepted?

You can pay in cash, by EC/debit card, VISA, MasterCard or American Express. Diners Club is not accepted.

When are check-in and check-out?

Check-in is possible from 3.00 pm, check-out is until 10.00 am. You are welcome to arrive earlier and already use the hotel services. On the day of departure, you can also use the wellness or children’s area after check-out.

Is the lunch buffet included on the day of arrival or departure?

The warm lunch buffet is included either on the day of arrival or on the day of departure.

How much is the local tax?

The local tax is € 2.70 per person and day from the age of 17 and will be charged additionally.

Are there discounts or price advantages?

The prices are fixed prices. Individual discounts cannot be granted. You can find current price advantages, themed weeks and offers here.

Are dogs allowed?

Yes, dogs are allowed. The price is € 20 per day without food. Please note that dogs are not allowed in public areas such as the lobby, restaurant, wellness area and Oswald beach. Any damage caused and extraordinary soiling will be charged additionally.

Is the hotel barrier-free?

The hotel is largely barrier-free. The adult wellness area is accessible via 3 steps. There is one wheelchair-accessible room, and many other rooms are also barrier-free.

Will I get a refund if I do not use included services?

No, there is no entitlement to a refund for services not used, such as rental skis, summer toboggan run, rock labyrinth or bicycle rental.


Arrival & parking

How do I arrive by car?

The hotel is located at 1,500 m above sea level and can be reached via an approximately 11 km long mountain road. In winter, snow chains may be required in case of snowfall.

What are the road conditions like in winter?

In case of snowfall, snow chains are compulsory. The road is cleared regularly. Snow chains can be purchased, for example, at the BP petrol station in Tröpolach.

Which train station is nearby?

The nearest train station is in Hermagor and is approx. 25 minutes from the hotel. Alternatively, you can also travel via Villach main station.

Which airport is the nearest?

The nearest airport is Klagenfurt. The journey to the hotel takes approx. 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Is there a transfer from the train station or airport?

Yes, the hotel will be happy to organise a transfer from the train station or airport. For prices and reservations, please contact the reception team directly.

Are there parking spaces at the hotel?

Yes, parking spaces are available subject to availability. In winter, there are free parking options in front of the hotel or at the hotel’s own car park approx. 450 m away. There are also parking garages available for a fee.

Is there a parking garage?

Yes, there are three parking garages. In winter, use of the parking garage costs € 8 per night. In summer, the parking garages can be used free of charge.

Are there e-charging stations?

Yes, there are several charging stations. You can get the required PIN code at reception. The charged kWh will be billed to your room account.


Cuisine & All Inclusive

What does the All Inclusive pampering board include?

Included are a rich breakfast buffet, a cold and warm lunch and afternoon buffet, cake buffet, 5-course dinner menu or themed buffets as well as non-alcoholic drinks and coffee and tea specialities around the clock.

When is breakfast served?

The breakfast buffet is served from 7.30 am to 10.30 am.

When are lunch and the cake buffet served?

The cold and warm lunch and afternoon buffet is available from 12.00 noon to 4.00 pm. The cake buffet is offered from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm.

When is dinner served?

Dinner is served from 6.00 pm to 8.00 pm. Depending on the day, there is a 5-course menu or themed buffet.

Are drinks included?

Yes, non-alcoholic drinks at the drinks bar as well as coffee and tea specialities are included around the clock. Excluded are, among others, cocktails, non-alcoholic beer, tonics and Red Bull.

Are there vegetarian dishes?

Yes, for dinner there are 3 main courses to choose from, including one vegetarian dish from our natural cuisine.

Is there a children’s buffet?

Yes, for our youngest guests there is a separate children’s buffet with soup, various main courses and dessert. The dishes vary daily and are child-friendly (e.g. pasta, schnitzel, chicken nuggets, fish fingers, sliced meat, chips, vegetables, potatoes, etc.).

Are allergies and intolerances taken into consideration?

Yes, allergies and intolerances are gladly taken into consideration. Please let us know at least 2 days before arrival so that the kitchen team can be informed. At the lunch and afternoon buffet, our team at the buffet will be happy to inform you about any allergens in the dishes offered. You can find more information about allergies and intolerances here.

Can external guests eat in the restaurant?

Yes, external guests can come for breakfast, lunch buffet or dinner. There is no à la carte menu. For breakfast and dinner, we kindly ask you to reserve a table.


Childcare & family holiday

From what age is childcare available?

Childcare is available for children from the age of 3. Unfortunately, children under the age of 3 cannot be looked after.

When does childcare take place?

Childcare in the “Lupo & Lupinchen” kids’ club takes place from Sunday to Friday from 9.00 am to 9.00 pm. Times may vary depending on the booking situation.

What awaits children in the kids’ club?

In the kids’ club, there is a varied programme with crafts, painting, magic carpet, mirror cabinet, gold panning, robbers’ cave, tree house, children’s cinema, treasure hunt and many other activities.

Are there offers for babies and toddlers?

Yes, there is a baby cuddle room for parents with babies as well as a separate area for changing and breastfeeding.

What baby and toddler equipment is available at the hotel?

The equipment includes, among other things, baby monitor via the room telephone, kettle, night light, toilet seat reducer, potty, nappy bin, changing mat, baby bathtub, bathroom stool, highchairs, children’s cutlery, buggies for outdoor use, sledges and toboggans in winter, baby carriers/back carriers (for a fee).

Are there bathrobes for children?

There are two bathrobes for adults in the room. Additional bathrobes or bathrobes for children can be collected at reception.

Can external guests use the indoor playground?

No, the children’s area and the indoor adventure hall can only be used by hotel guests.

Is there a babysitter for children under the age of 3?

No, our childcare is available for children from the age of 3. We thank you for your understanding that we cannot look after children under the age of 3.


Indoor action & play areas

What is Casa Cravallo?

Casa Cravallo is the hotel’s large indoor adventure hall. On 3 levels and over 600 m², there is action and fun in any weather.

What is there in the indoor adventure hall?

In Casa Cravallo, you can look forward to a 9 m high climbing wall, boulder wall, Quick Jump, football pitch, indoor ice-skating rink, trampolines at a height of 6 m, high ropes course, soft play area, spiral slide, kamikaze slide, fun shooter, table tennis and table football.

When is the climbing wall open?

The climbing wall is open with supervision from Sunday to Friday from 5.00 pm to 9.00 pm. The boulder wall can be used from 9.00 am to 9.00 pm at your own risk.

Is there also an outdoor playground?

Yes, the “Mäuseturm” outdoor playground offers, among other things, a 4-field trampoline, a bouncy castle and a giant tubing run.

Is there a fitness room?

Yes, there is a modern fitness room with equipment from Technogym and Life Fitness. Access is possible from the age of 14; younger children may only enter when accompanied by their parents.


Wellness, pools & bathing fun

Are there separate wellness areas for adults and families?

Yes, there are separate areas. Adults enjoy peace and quiet in the Kristall Spa with indoor pool, whirlpool, relaxation rooms and sauna area. Families have their own children’s wellness area with fun pool, baby pool, tepidarium and bio sauna.

What does the adults’ wellness area offer?

The adults’ area offers an indoor pool with whirlpool, 7 different saunas, relaxation rooms, tea bar, fruit corner, spring water, fitness room and spa treatments for a fee.

Which saunas are available?

In the adults’ area, there are, among others, an aura sauna, rock sauna, hunter’s sauna, herbal sauna, infrared cabin, brine steam bath and caldarium.

What does the family wellness area offer?

The family area offers the “Fix & Foxi” fun pool, a separate toddler pool at 36 °C, a tepidarium, a Finnish bio sauna at 55 °C and a relaxation area.

Is there an outdoor pool?

Yes, in summer there is an outdoor pool with mountain views. The water is up to approx. 30 °C warm.

Is there a day spa?

No, the hotel does not offer a day spa.

Do I have to bring my own towels?

For the wellness area, you will find a wellness bag with towels in your room. For the beach at Lake Pressegger See, please bring your own beach towels.

Are there wellness treatments for children?

Yes, there are special wellness treatments and massages for kids and teens for a fee.


Summer holiday & Nassfeld +CARD holiday

Is the Nassfeld +CARD holiday (guest card) included?

Yes, in summer the Nassfeld +CARD holiday is included. With it, you can use the Nassfeld summer mountain lifts free of charge and benefit from many other advantages in the region.

What services does the Nassfeld +CARD holiday offer?

Included are, among other things, mountain lifts, public transport in the region, the Nassfeld downhill trail, the Aqua Trail family adventure trail, guided hikes, free admission to the local history museum and many other benefits.

What are the Gartnerkofel adventures?

The Gartnerkofel adventures are included experiences and activities during your holiday. These include, for example, guided hikes, sunrise hikes, picnic on the Winkelalm, pig washing, overnight stay outdoors, visit to the adventure apiary, archery, horse riding for children, admission to the rock labyrinth with Flying Fox and indoor tournaments.

Are there guided hikes?

Yes, there are guided hikes, for example sunrise hikes, hikes to the Winkelalm, themed hikes and further tours around Nassfeld.

Are there mountain bike offers?

Yes, there are guided mountain bike tours several times a week, tour tips and free bicycle rental directly at the hotel. E-bikes, fully bikes and e-fully bikes can be rented for a fee.

Are there golf offers?

Yes, Gartnerkofel guests receive unlimited golf during their stay, provided they have handicap 54 and no tournament is taking place. In addition, golf taster sessions are available with the Nassfeld +CARD holiday.

Are there discounts for summer activities?

Yes, in summer there is an action package with discounts, for example 50% discount on toboggan run tickets and 50% discount on rafting.


Swimming in summer & private beach

Is there a private beach at Lake Pressegger See?

Yes, hotel guests enjoy exclusive private access to Oswaldbad at Lake Pressegger See during the summer months.

How far away is Lake Pressegger See?

Lake Pressegger See is approx. 30 minutes by car from the hotel.

Is there a shuttle bus to the lake?

No, there is no shuttle bus to Lake Pressegger See.

What is included at Oswaldbad?

In summer, sun loungers and parasols are included. From 3 nights, ½ hour pedal boat ride or ½ hour SUP ride per stay is also included.

Are there other bathing lakes or swimming pools nearby?

Yes, in addition to Lake Pressegger See, there are also the Gitschtal adventure swimming pool, Hermagor beach, Radnig natural swimming pool and Lake Weissensee.


Winter holiday & skiing

Is the hotel located directly on the ski slope?

Yes, the hotel is located directly on the ski slope in the Nassfeld ski area. From the ski cellar, you can start your skiing fun straight away.

How large is the Nassfeld ski area?

The Nassfeld ski area offers around 110 kilometres of slopes and 30 modern lifts.

Is the ski pass included in the price?

No, the ski pass is not included in the price. You can buy it directly at the hotel reception. From a 1.5-day ski pass, you receive a discount at reception.

Is there ski rental at the hotel?

Yes, there is an in-house ski rental directly at the hotel. After booking, you can conveniently reserve your ski equipment in advance.

Is there a ski cellar?

Yes, there is a fully air-conditioned ski cellar with lockable ski locker for skis, ski boots, helmet, poles and clothing. From there, you have direct access to the ski slope.

Is there a ski school nearby?

Yes, the ski school is only a few metres or approx. 200 m from the hotel. Information and bookings for ski courses or private lessons are handled directly by the ski school.

What is Early Bird Skiing?

During Early Bird Skiing, the Madritschenbahn opens exclusively for hotel guests from 7.30 am to 8.30 am. The offer takes place at least once a week.

Are there winter activities away from the slopes?

Yes, there are snowshoe hikes, winter hiking trails, cross-country ski trails, toboggan runs, horse-drawn sleigh rides, ice skating on Lake Pressegger See or Lake Weissensee as well as a varied weekly programme.

Is there après-ski at the hotel?

Yes, in winter there is après-ski and the “SAU EREI” barbecue afternoon on the sun terrace with the boss himself.


Rooms & facilities

What rooms are available at Hotel Gartnerkofel?

There are double rooms, living studios, family rooms, suites and wellness suites. Many rooms offer a balcony, mountain view, separate children’s bedrooms or spacious living areas.

Are there rooms with a private sauna?

Yes, some suites have a private sauna in the room. Some also feature a whirlpool bathtub or fireplace.

Are there rooms for larger families?

Yes, there are several family rooms and suites for 4 to 6 people, some with two bedrooms, separate living area and additional facilities.

Is there a minibar in the room?

Suites with sauna are equipped with a minibar. Other room categories do not have a minibar as standard. On request and subject to availability, a small refrigerator can be provided.


Evening entertainment & bar

Is there evening entertainment at the hotel?

Yes, there is regular evening entertainment such as music evenings, casino evenings, table magic, magic show with Harry Fox and live music at the Dolce Vita Bar.

Is there a bar?

Yes, Martin’s Dolce Vita Bar invites you to enjoy cocktails, wine and relaxing holiday evenings. The entire bar area is non-smoking.

Are there wine tastings?

Yes, a wine tasting with the sommelier takes place once a week in the wine cellar for a fee.


Seminars & conferences

Can seminars or conferences also be held at Hotel Gartnerkofel?

Yes, the hotel offers an event centre with several conference and group rooms, modern technology, high-speed internet, hybrid technology and individual organisation.

How many people can the seminar rooms accommodate?

The large “Gartnerkofel” seminar room offers space for up to 120 people. Further smaller rooms are suitable for meetings, group work and workshops.

Are there supporting programmes for companies?

Yes, depending on the season, the hotel offers incentives and supporting programmes such as snowshoe hikes, company ski races, Waldner Olympics, pig washing, hut magic, sunrise hike or picnic on the Winkelalm.

Summer season 2026

  • In case of cancellation up to 4 weeks before arrival: no cancellation fees
  • In case of cancellation up to 14 days before arrival: we will keep the paid deposit
  • In case of a cancellation within 14 days before arrival: 80 % of the price have to be paid.
  • In the event of an early departure or late arrival, 100 % of the room price will be charged as cancellation costs.
  • A cancellation will only be accepted in written form.

Winter season 2026/27

  • In case of cancellation up to 4 weeks before arrival: no cancellation fees
  • In case of cancellation up to 2 weeks before arrival: we will keep the paid deposit
  • In case of a cancellation within 14 days before arrival: 80 % of the price have to be paid.
  • In the event of an early departure or late arrival, 100 % of the room price will be charged as cancellation costs.
  • A cancellation will only be accepted in written form. For legal reasons we are obliged to inform you that we reserve the right to cancel bookings due to insufficient snow up to three days prior to the scheduled arrival date. Furthermore, we would like to remind you that you have no claim on the operation of all 33 cable cars and uphill installations since some of the lifts might not run due to insufficient snow cover.
